Pedro Oliveira was born in Brazil in 1957 and joined the Theosophical Society in that country in 1978, working for it in several capacities, including as a translator and a national speaker. He was educated at the Military School of Porto Alegre and holds a degree in Philosophy from the Federal University in Brazil.

At seventeen, he developed an interest for yoga and meditation and purchased his first Theosophical book, At the Feet of the Master. He was introduced to the Ancient Wisdom by his philosophy teacher at the Military School who shared with his students his passionate interest in Giordano Bruno as well as in Johnathan Livingstone Seagull!

He attended a number of Summer Schools of the Theosophical Society in Brazil and also a few of the TS in Argentina. He acted as translator for a number of international lecturers, including John and Betsan Coats, Radha Burnier, Seetha Neelakantan, and Ravi Ravindra.

At thirty-five, he was asked by Radha Burnier, former International President of the TS, to work as International Secretary of the TS and reside at Adyar, Madras (now Chennai), India. He did so from 1992 to 1996, during which time he lectured in India, the Asia-Pacific region, Australia, New Zealand and the United States. Later on he also lectured in some countries in Europe. He was a guest presenter both at the Krotona School of Theosophy in Ojai, California, and at the National Headquarters of the American Section in Wheaton, during April and May 1995, respectively. He returned to the Krotona School of Theosophy as a guest presenter a few times after that.

Oliveira was President of the Indo-Pacific Federation of the TS from 2001 to 2007, and during this period he travelled extensively through the region, giving talks and seminars, including Sri Lanka which he visited five times between 2001 and 2006. He also worked as Education Coordinator of the TS in Australia from 2002 to 2008, and from 2012 until 2021, producing educational material for all TS Lodges, Certified Groups and National Members in that country. From 2009 to 2011 he served as the Officer-in-Charge of the Editorial Office at the International Headquarters of the TS at Adyar.

He has contributed articles to The Theosophist and other TS journals for the past thirty years. His works include (with Ricardo Lindemann) A Tradição Sabedoria (The Wisdom Tradition), published by the TPH in Brazil; Mysticism: Bridge to Nowhere, an online study course written for the members of the National Lodge of the American Section; N. Sri Ram: A Life of Beneficence and Wisdom, published by the TPH Adyar; CWL Speaks – C. W. Leadbeater’s Correspondence concerning the 1906 Crisis in the Theosophical Society, Olive Tree Publishing, Australia, 2018; and Annie Besant in India, Olive Tree Publishing, Australia, 2021.

He is also the author of four study courses published by The Theosophical Society in Australia: Introduction to The Key to Theosophy; Understanding the Psychic World; The Secret Doctrine – An Eclectic Introduction to its Study; and The Science of Yoga – An Introduction to the Yoga-sutras of Patanjali.
